My cake went well! That certainly perked up my day
Before icing:
And after!
My sister and I couldn’t resist sharing a tiny slice :p It was so good!!
I also had a hot chocolate around the same time – these are a frequent occurance, usually at least twice a day, so I’ll refrain from posting the same picture over and over…
But I had totally killed my appetite for dinner! AGAIN!
This morning though, in an amazing stroke of genius, I found some frozen egg noodles, so I defrosted them and some prawns for dinner tonight:
I also cut up a whole bunch of kabocha and acorn squash with some parsnip, and roasted it all together with some cinnamon and garlic in the oven – check out the cinnamony goodness
But just that stuff paired together does not an aspiring blogger’s meal make! So a sauce was called for. I felt in a soy saucy mood again (though when am I not?? I seriously need to find some new flavours! Anyone have any good flavour/sauce combinations?) I rumaged in the cupboard a bit, and came up with a mix:
- soy sauce
- worcester sauce
- walnut oil
- pepper
- cinnamon
- agave nectar
- thinly sliced garlic
That green teaspoon at the front is AMAZING! It came in a set (about 6 spoons, ranging from 1/4tsp measures to a full tbsp) and they’re all magnetic and stick together so they never get lost in the drawer – GENIUS! My gran was a smart one this Christmas
So anyway, I heated through the prawns a bit, in all the sauces etc and a bit of water
and then added my noodles
while they were cooking, I was admiring my amazingly large recipe book collection!
And that’s not even all of them..there is more behind them! I seem to be addicted to buying them cheap from charity shops (only about £2.99 a book) and cooking about one recipe (after bookmarking hundreds that I WILL cook…!), then forgetting about them! I just love reading recipe books to be honest..:)
Anyways! So I then added some flour to thicken the sauce up a bit, and then threw in all my cooked squash and parsnip. My dinner:
I enjoyed all that (and I emphasise my enjoyment – it was delicious!) on a tray watching ER
anyone else love that show?
I think I’m going to finally attempt some lab report now, before settling down to the new issues of Vogue and Zest magazines (and quite possibly some ice cream too
)
Have a great evening everyone!!

That cake was soooo good I’m dreaming of it now…
Haha, I’ll bake you one specially!! Would you rather that than the chocolate cake…??!!
I love discovering UK blogs, especially written by people who have similar interests to me (Peanut butter and 8 Simple Rules for example!) I’m looking forward to reading more. Where abouts do you live?
Hey! Wow, outside of my sister, you’re the first UK person I’ve heard of to like 8 Simple Rules! I wish we could get season 2 and 3 on dvd here
I live in Suffolk, where abouts are you? Have you had any luck finding Uk blogs? I’ve searched and have NEVER found any :s
I’m in south Bucks, near Slough/Windsor area. I’ve found a few UK blogs – http://www.thinspiredblog.com and simplyfabulousnow.wordpress.com are a couple of my favourites. I started my own for a bit but wasn’t able to keep it up. Are you snowed in at the moment? There’s loads here!
Can I have one too?
Yeah, I’m discovering it takes a lot of work to get regular posts!!
I’m not quite snowed in..but there is more snow forecast tonight, so no doubt by tomorrow morning I will be! Are you stuck? I really want it to go now….!
