The final product (actually, the fudgy icing that went on the final product :p)
This, became this:
Gooey!! Oh I love baking
The cake actually came out really flat – it needed two 18inch tins (which I had), but at the last minute I PANICKED and thought I had way too much fix for such small tins! So enter in the 20cm tins..and a thin cake! (Probably the only time thin and cake can be paired together in the same sentence, without the use of the words ‘does not make you’…)
Lunch was pretty useless. Very useless. I was trying to think of ways to jazz up egg whites (there are very few ways of doing this – WHY would a normal person throw out the yolks!? They have all the good bits in them, ie FLAVOUR!!)
I cut up a whole bunch of mushrooms, and mixed the egg white with some caremalized red onion and balsamic chutney (and s + p)
I then stir fried the mushrooms, and added them to the egg white moosh, but when I tasted it, it still lacked flavour
so I put in a load of garlic, which overtook the chutney, but garlic is the BEST flavour!! I also paired it with a salad with a spoon of tahini over it, and some parmesan toast (toast with butter and parmesan, with a load of added garlic again
I must smell bad now!!)
Heavan knows why my egg whites are grey!? At least the salad is bright
I followed this with a Salmon and cottage cheese muffin, from a recipe on Kath Eats! (Her breakfast omlette muffin recipe). THAT was the good bit of lunch!
Me and my mum made the most of her having zilch work to do because everyone cancelled, so we took a photo,
Liking my trousers!? I figure I needed to stand out cos we went for a walk…once again, SAFETY FIRST!
I’ve decided cos of the weather (this cold snap won’t end til Feb
), meaning I can’t run and so can’t train for my half marathon, that I’m going to postpone it..so I’ve entered for a different one in March. Even though I ran 13 miles in one go the other week, I just can’t go into my first ever half marathon feeling underprepared. Even if physically I was OK, I know mentally I’d be thinking ‘OMG I won’t be able to do it!!’ and negative thoughts are not good!! I seem to be like that in all aspects of life though – I have to be really prepared for something (ie revise my ASS OFF before an exam, I’m not a look-at-the-notes-the-night-before kinda girl) or I get worried I can’t do it. It’s all about over-preperation in my life lol!
Anyways, so I enjoyed the last 15mins of an ER episode while I had my snack: some yogurt (only added ingredients – fruit and a tiny bit o’ cane sugar! No crappy stuff needed, cos it was made the ‘proper’ way apparently…) and a nice fresh date – darn are they addictive!
I also had a luurrrverly mug of hot chocolate
Dinner, cooking as we speak, is a recipe I got off of Iowa Girl Eats – Orange Soy Glazed Salmon.
That be my delicious salmon fillets (for my mum, sister and me) marinating in freshly squeezed OJ, soy sauce, a dash of agave nectar, cinnamon, and garlic! I’m also roastin’ up some sprouts, broccoli, squash, parsnip and sweet potato. It’s going to be an epic meal!!
